6. Assubhesajjābhesajjapañha
Đức vua đã nói rằng: “Thưa ngài Nāgasena, người khóc vì việc qua đời của mẹ và người khóc vì sự yêu mến Pháp, trong hai người đang khóc ấy nước mắt của ai là liều thuốc, nước mắt của ai không phải là liều thuốc?”
“Tâu đại vương, nước mắt của một người là nóng nảy, do tham sân si, có vấy bụi, của một người là mát mẻ, do hỷ và thiện tâm, không có vấy bụi. Tâu đại vương, cái nào mát mẻ cái ấy là liều thuốc, cái nào nóng này cái ấy không phải là liều thuốc.”
“Thưa ngài Nāgasena, ngài thật khôn khéo.”

6. Rājā āha ‘‘bhante nāgasena, yo ca mātari matāya rodati, yo ca dhammapemena rodati, ubhinnaṃ tesaṃ rodantānaṃ kassa assu bhesajjaṃ, kassa na bhesajja’’nti? ‘‘Ekassa kho, mahārāja, assu rāgadosamohehi samalaṃ uṇhaṃ, ekassa pītisomanassena vimalaṃ sītalaṃ. Yaṃ kho, mahārāja, sītalaṃ, taṃ bhesajjaṃ, yaṃ uṇhaṃ, taṃ na bhesajja’’nti.
6. The king asked, "Venerable Nāgasena, of one who weeps when his mother has died and one who weeps out of love for the Dhamma—of these two who weep, whose tears are medicine, and whose are not medicine?" "For one, great king, the tears are hot and defiled with passion, aversion, and delusion; for the other, they are cool and stainless with joy and gladness. That which is cool, great king, is medicine; that which is hot is not medicine."
6. Đức vua hỏi: ‘Bạch ngài Nāgasena, một người khóc khi mẹ qua đời, và một người khóc vì lòng yêu mến Pháp. ‘‘Kallosi, bhante nāgasenā’’ti.
“You are skillful, Venerable Nāgasena.”
‘Bạch ngài Nāgasena, ngài thật khéo léo!’
